Echocordレーベルは、デンマークのコペンハーゲンでレコードショップを営みながらDJプロデューサーとして活動していたケネス・クリスチャンソンによって2002年に設立された。レーベル名は当時彼らが使っていたエコーマシン " Dynacord – Echocord machines " にインスパイアされたもの。デトロイトのディープコード ( Deepchord ) の大ファンでもあるクリスチャンセンには、スウェーデンのAnders IlarとAndreas Tilliander、ドイツKompaktレーベル、ベルリンからの多くの友人、Scape people、Hardwax、Flow.er/Meteosoundなどのリレーションシップがあり、そうした接触によって生まれたアーティストの信頼関係に支えられてEchocodeは自然発生したといってもいいだろう。あるインタヴューでは、Echocordの作品のなかでクリスチャンセンが最も思い入れのある作品は、Echocord01の " Mikkel Metal -

Lokuran EP " やechocord 033のMikkel Metal " Peaks And Troughs - EP Part 3/3 " だという。現在彼はカルチャー・ボックスと呼ばれるコペンハーゲンでクラブも経営し、世界中のDJアーティストのブッキングを行っている。デトロイト・フィーリングを持つBasic ChannelからデトロイトのDeepchord、Echocord、Chain Reaction、Modern Loveなどのダビーテクノ、ミニマルダブの流れは、ボクの好きなTrentemøllerが、2009年に " Trentemøller vs. DJ Lab - Rauta EP ( echocord 034 ) " をこのEchocordからリリースしていたほどに、いまという時代意識を反映していて愈々大きな流れを形成し始めた。
そしてベーシック・チャンネルのスタイルを継承し、08年以後のミニマル・ダブ・シーンを活性化させ再燃させたCV313の存在は大きい。デトロイトのRod ModellとシカゴのStephen Hitchellから成るユニット・Echospaceが、2007年にUKのModernLoveからリリースした " Deep Chord prsents Echospace The Coldest Season " を聴いたとき、それまでずっと追ってきた " ジャズ的なるもの " という記号が、とても時代遅れに感じたのを覚えている。シンセやローランド・スペース・エコー、Echoplex、コルグ・テープ・ディレイ、プロセッサ信号、ノイズ・ジェネレーターなどのアナログ器具によるミニマルダブ、スローモーション・テクノは、静的な音の色彩とフィールド・レコーディング構築されたオーガニックなものだ。リヴァーブやディレイのかかったミニマルダブの無重力の海を泳いでいるのが、いま最も気持ちいい。デトロイト・テクノの最も深い世界はいまここにある。
マンチェスターのNorthern Quarter ( 53 Oldham St ) にあるPiccadilly Recordsのレコード紹介では " これは、宇宙空間探検のためのまさしくそのサウンドトラックを中の浮遊物に不意にやって来ることになっていた拡張サイケな旅行です " と書かれている。

Onmutu Mechanicks is the project of Arne Weinberg as a playground for electronic music besides his techno projects. The goal is to create deep music without typical rules in rhythm structures and sounds.
From 2006 to 2007 Niko Tzoukmanis was a member.
Onmutu Mechanicks is now based in Glasgow, Scotland.

Arne Weinberg

Born 1973 and raised in south Germany Arne was influenced as a young kid by his mother and her varied musical tastes. After several excursions into different musical styles such as Death Metal and Hip Hop in his teenage years, Arne finally discovered Techno music at the age of 21. Since that time he became infected and soon started to deejay. After practising his turntable skills at home he became a resident deejay at the Depot club in Tuebingen, where he ran a monthly party event for 5 years. There he met with artists like Oliver Kapp, Fabrice Lig, Shake, Pacou; and lots of others, and developed his passion for the deeper shades of techno music, especially those coming from Detroit.
In 2000 Arne decided to make his first attempts at producing deep melodic techno himself with only a computer, and soon realised that he needed to get some real gear to express himself authenticly. Armed only with a few pieces of gear he started to do his first real tracks and soon got a record deal with the Frankfurt based label Propaganda. His first record, the Through the colonnades EP was released in early 2001 and gained some good reactions such as getting charted by Laurent Garnier.
Becoming far more influenced by deep electronic music, Arne began building his studio and his own musical style. Soon he got in contact with Otto Koppius, labelowner of the Dutch Groundzero/Keynote label, and got his second release, the Snowflake EP in 2002.
After that a lot of 12s followed, released on labels such as Starbaby, Down Low, Headspace and Technoir Audio (together with Shawn Rudiman).
Many other projects can be expected from him in the future, including his own imprint AW-Recordings.
In early 2008 he moved to Glasgow, Scotland.
AW-Recordings was laid to rest in june 2009.
The new imprint is called diametric.

アイルランドCork出身のアーティストJohn Dalyが ( 現在彼はアイルランドのゴールウェイ在住 ) 、スイスのPlak Recordsからリリースした1stアルバム " Full Circle " に続く2枚目のアルバム。自身のレーベルOne Track、Wave Music、Drumpoet Community、Mule Musiqなどからも作品をリリースしている。彼の住むゴールウェイには行ったことがないが、イギリスに旅行したときには、ケルト神話やアイルランド神話には70年代プログレッシヴ・ロックの時代からずっと惹かれ続けているからか、いつも機会があったら一度行ってみたいなと思い続けているアイルランドで最もすばらしい中世の町屋が残る街で、アイルランドに現存する一番大きな中世の " 聖ニコラス・アングリカン教会 " のルネサンス期のロマネスク調の建築物などがある。そんな世界に住むJohn Dalyがミニマルダブを展開していることは興味深い。

MalaとCokiからなるダブステップ・ムーヴメントのオリジネイター・デュオDigital Mystikz。ダブステップといっても彼らはシャックルトンがやったように、正当な道を避けてアヴァンギャルドにアブストラクトにダブステップを展開している。ダブステップ黎明期などにボクは興味ないが、モーリッツ・トリオの " Restructure 2 " に彼らがセッションしているのでこの3枚組アルバムを購入したというわけだ。しかし期待してはいなかったにも関わらず、エレクトロニカの美しさやディープ・テック・ダブステップ、アンビエントのグルーヴが聴こえてきて、特に " Mountain Dread March " には、暗闇のダブステップともいう憂うつなシンセ・ストリングが終末論的なリズムを浸み込ませていて、驚いた。Digital Mistikzも先端を突っ走っている。

Blake Baxter、Marshall Jeffersonなどの初期シカゴハウスを継承したレーベルSystematicを主宰するMarc RomboyとHerzblut Recordingsを主宰するStephan Bodzinによるコラボレーション・アルバム。このコラボレーションは2005年に始まり、これまでに彼らは12"11枚をリリースしていて、 " LUNA " はそれらのオリジナル・トラックとミックスCD、リミックス集(MP3)でコンパイルされた3枚組CDボックス。Moritz Von Oswaldから、Abe Duque、Brendon Moeller、Speedy J、Roman Flugel、Oliver Huntemann、Chris Liebing、Minilogue、Stimmingなどがリミックスを手掛けている。この作品にもみられるが、最近Moog、the Arp、drum-computersなどローランドやヴァーモナのヴィンテージ・シンセサイザーを使った作品がクラブミュージックやエレクトロニック・ミュージック・シーンでの重要なブームになっている。ドイツならではのクラウトロックからノイエ・ドイチェ・ヴェレ、先端でのミニマルダブを横断した完成度の高い作品だ。

統合失調症 ( 精神分裂症 ) のような、こうした突然変異に表出した実験的ダブステップは、現在のイギリスでの音楽シーンの大きな特徴のひとつである。すべてのネタは70年代中盤~80年代前半の最盛期のディスコ・ミュージックからカットされサンプリングされ抽出されたDave Huismansのサウンドの、ユーモアを交えた楽観主義的態度はどこまでも冗談ぽくて気に喰わないw。言ってみればnu thingsに関わっているゼロ年代のミュージシャンの中でSeihoやAnd Vice Versaの音楽に共通点がみられる。スウィングシンコペーションをずたずたに切って祖末に構築するやりかた、そう、器用過ぎるのだ。20代前半の彼らとボクの感性を比較する事自体おかしいが、まあ今の若者の特徴が顕著に表れている音楽ではある。とは言っても " Fever " という曲には、いまボクが求めているダークなミニマダブがきっちり収録されているし、2562はなかなかの強者だと支持しているけれど。オランダのダブステッパーDave Huismansは、これまでにPinch主宰のブリストルのレーベル" Techtonic " から2枚のアルバムをリリースし、MartynやScubaと並ぶポスト・ダブステップの先駆者として注目を浴びた。また別名義のA Made Up Soundではディープでアトモスフェリックなサウンドを展開している。セルフ・レーベル " When In Doubt " からリリースされたこの作品は2562のサード・アルバムで、アーバン・エレクトロニック・ミュージック/ポスト・ダブステップとして評されている。

ハンガリアンの監督/シナリオライターBéla Tarrの2000年の作品 " Les Harmonies Werckmeister / ヴェルクマイスター・ハーモニー " の挽歌幻想のスローモーション・セルロイド・ポエトリーからインスピレーションを得て作られたアイスランドの若き作曲家オラフル・アルナルズ ( Ólafur Arnalds ) の6作目の「 …and They Have Escaped the Weight of Darkness 」は、復活のための比喩として日食のプロセスをコンセプトに選び、絶望のどん底からの希望を描いた作品だという。それを去年聴いたとき、ボクのなかで放りっ放しにし封印していたバロックの火が再び燃え上がろうとしているのを感じた。まるでゴチック建築物のように構築される彼の音楽は、クラシックからポストロック、エレクトロニック・ミュージック、クラブ・ミュージックまでを融合
した歪んだ真珠のようなバロック世界が描かれている。なんといっても彼はハードコア・バンドでドラムを叩いていた奴だし、電子音楽と室内楽との絶妙な融合と言われた2007年の 「 Eulogy for Evolution 」が話題になって、シガー・ロスのヨーロッ
パ・ツアーのサポートとして抜擢された奴なんだから。いまやロックって、このアルナルズの音楽のことを言うんだよ。言うまでもなくニッポンには事実上ロックなんて存在しない。2009年のウェブ上でのフリー・ダウンロード、Flickerでアートワークを募集するという試み。何とも実験好きな奴である。それでいてアカデミックな世界からも支持され、イギリスの舞踏家Wayne McGregorの舞台のための楽曲 " Dyad 1909 " も提供したりしている。いつのまにかロックの文脈での先端はここまで来てしまっている。まだ気付かないのかい。思えばロックとは、サイケデリック・バロキスム以外のなにものでもなかった。1986年ロックが終焉し、ロックの落とし前をつけるため「 EGO 」04のなかの" 有翼の少年/サイケデリック・バロキスム"で、" ロック＝この永遠に女性的で、無邪気な、内部にひとつの対立を容認した不条理な精神は、汎神論と律動感への内的分裂した多極化へ向かうバロキスムの普遍的常数であり、狂気の歴史が綴られた我々人類の歴史的常数でもある " と書いた。そう、すべての音楽は、つまり、あらゆる時代の音楽、あらゆる文脈の音楽は、秩序と運動の矛盾を超越するための大胆な試みとして、いまでもバロックの虜となっているのだ。

Francesco Tristano - Doku zum Album "bachCage"

***Mit „bachCage" legt Francesco im Frühjahr 2011 sein Debüt Deutsche Grammophon vor. Dass der junge Musiker und Komponist gleichzeitig sowohl in der Clubszene als auch in klassischen Konzerthäusern für Aufregung sorgt, dürfte weltweit ein Novum sein. Ebenso neu ist es, dass Puristen aus dem Klassik- und dem Techno-Lager sich einig sind. Einig in ihrer Irritation über jemanden, der sich nicht an die Regeln hält. Francesco Tristano ist Irritation gewohnt. Wenn er mit seinem Trio Aufgang im Club Techno nach Noten spielt, dann ist das Publikum zunächst verunsichert. Irritiert sein mag auch der erfahrene Konzertbesucher und Klassikliebhaber, der zum ersten Mal erlebt, wie ein Pianist eine Eigenkomposition in ein Stück von Frescobaldi übergehen lässt. So als wäre er ein DJ. Die Unerschrockenheit, mit der der 29jährige Francesco Tristano Epochen und Stilistiken kombiniert und mitunter auch kollidieren lässt, mag auf Unverständnis stoßen. Wobei der gebürtige Luxemburger kein Provokateur im eigentlichen Sinn ist. Alles, was er tut, ist Ausdruck einer Offenheit, die keine Grenzen, keine Einengung duldet. Von Generationen klassischer Pianisten geprägte interpretatorische Konventionen -- Tristano weiß um sie, aber er ignoriert sie. Sein künstlerisches Selbstverständnis fragt nicht nach Legitimierung. Wenn er etwa mit seinem dynamischen Spiel gefühlvoll in eigentlich strenger Barockmusik schwelgt, dann ist er radikal. Radikalität aber ist bei ihm kein Selbstzweck.

MURCOF
マイクロリズムと古典的な表記法を解体するメキシコ人の電子音響ミュージシャンであるMurcofことフェルナンドコロナ ( Fernando Corona ) 。2009のIvan Duenas監督のメキシコ映画 " La Sangre Iluminada " へ提供したサウンド・トラックをリエディットし、映画のタイトルと同名のニューアルバムとしてリリース。この映画はホセ・カルロス・ベセラの詩に触発されたもので、彼らに強く支配している根深いノスタルジアを描いた物語。エレクトロニック・ラウンドスケープに重要な影響を与えているフェルナンド・コロナの音楽は、ピアノとチェロやヴァイオリンなどのストリングス、エレクトロニック・ビート、サンプリング、歪んだヴォーカルなどが一体となって、ユートピア、コスモス、故郷メキシコの広大な砂漠やブラジルの思い出などを描く詩的なエクスペリメンタル・エレクトロニック。どれもが暗く陰気な空想を語り、歌詞には魔法の象徴が多く使かわれている。ある人はモノレイク+アルヴァノトの音楽に共通点を見いだしている。最近聴いたアルバムのなかでは、または、今年上半期に発売されたアルバムのなかではベストと言えるものだろう。
コロナは1970年にティファナ、メキシコの生まれエンセナダで育った。彼はTerrestre project名の下に電子音楽のNortec Collectiveのメンバーだった。 2000年にスペインのバルセロナに移転している。Murcofの音楽は抽象的ミニマル・エレクトロニカ、グリッチに分類されているが、多くの録音がアルヴォペルトなどの近代的な作曲家の作品の録音からサンプリングされたオーケストラの構造を持っている。

Murcof -Fernando Corona established himself as Murcof with his long-playing debut, "Martes" for Leaf in 2002. His fusion of micro-rhythms and deconstructed classical notation has led him to records for labels as diverse as Sutekh's Context records and also jazz stalwart, Blue Note.
The film, directed by Ivan Duenas in 2009 and inspired by Jose Carlos Becerra's poems, tells the story of six characters who mutate into new bodies. Deep down, all six keep traces of their past lives, of the former bodies they miss; deep-seated nostalgia has a strong hold on them. The vast Mexican desert combines with Murcof's vaporous soundscapes to form the backdrop of a tale hovering between tragedy and science fiction, which unfolds in a timeless world devoid of points of reference. The narration moves from one character to
another, and the characters from one body to the next, guided by the themes Murcof has created, which may remind his most faithful followers of his "Remembranza" period (released in 2005 by Leaf).
InFiné welcomes to the family this new version of the soundtrack to the film "La Sangre Iluminada". Initially composed and re-edited for the occasion by Murcof, this vinyl-exclusive LP was mastered by another sound sorcerer, Rashad Becker, from Dubplate Mastering studios.

パリ、リヨン、ベルリンを拠点にしたレーベルInfinéは、Agoria、Alexandre Cazac、Yannick Matrayによって2006年に設立され、未来のためのインターナショナル・アンド・エレクトロニックな折衷主義音楽を展開している。フランス/リヨン出身のDJ プロデューサー、アゴリア ( Agoria ) は、フランスの田舎で暮らしていた1988年の12歳頃、地元のラジオでケビン・サンダーソンの " グッドライフ " を聴いてから電子音楽に夢中になったという。次の啓示は、リヨンで行われたジェフミルズの3台のターンテーブルとドラムマシンを使用したDJを見て衝撃を受けたことだという。ちなみにAgoriaとは、Agora + iaの造語で、" Agoraとは、古代ギリシャのポリスに実在した場所であり、市民はAgoraに集まって、政治や思想などを論じながら一日を過ごしたと言われ、そのAgoraに、空間をあらわす接尾語iaをつけ、" 自由活発に議論や論議が展開される知のコミュニティ空間 " という意味を表わすらしい。ネット上の " i LOUD " での 11/2/23の " Agoria / Impermanenceインタビューでは、「 “ Impermanence ” は、永久や不変という意味を持つ “ permanence ” の反語で、仏教用語では諸行無常というのかな。人生では、いろんな事が起こり、いろんなものが移り変わっていくというコンセプトが、テクノの本質にもつながると思って、このタイトルにしたんだ。テクノは、移り変わって行くループによって、覚醒を生み出す音楽だからね 」と答えていたが、このような尽きることのない開放性と飽くなき好奇心はAgoriaのすべてのプロジェクトの商標または登録商標となっている。Devaudの鋭い耳は、バウハウスのピーター・マーフィー、ネネ・チェリー、他にはSylvie Marks、Tricky、Ann Saunderson、デトロイト・テクノ界の大御所patriarch (Carl Craig)などとコラボレーションしていることでも裏付けられる。四つ打ちのテクノだけではなく、ピアノ、ストリングスを取り入れた叙情的でミステリアスなネオ・クラシカル的なアンビエントまで横断する多彩なエレクトロニック・ミュージックを展開している。またリュック・ベッソン ( Luc Besson ) 監督とOlivier Van Hoofstadt から委託された2008年の映画のサウンドトラック " Dust " と " Solarized " の2曲が収録されたアルバム " Go Fast " では、モダン・クラシック・ハウスやヒュージング・ポップ ( fusing pop ) ともいう官能的で実験的な音楽に挑戦している。ロックから引き摺っていたのか、フランスの音楽というととてもとてもダサいイメージがずっとボクには付きまとっていたが、最近のフレンチ・テクノを聴いてドイツにはない独特の、ドラマティックかつ退廃的甘い香りを放っていて耽美だ。過去の悪いイメージがinfineレーベルの " レフトエレクトロニカ " によって刷新されたといっても良いだろう。「 インターネットの氾濫によって、音楽が傷ついたという批判の声が大きいけど、多くの音楽を自由に聴けるようになった面もある。同時に、音楽がもう売り物ではなくなってしまったとも言えるよね。でも逆に、売れないということは、売ることばかりを考えずに、より自由な表現ができると思っているんだ。ダンス・ミュージックのクリエイターにしても、ダンスビートのフロアライクなものだけではなく、多少リスクを負ってでも、もっと多様な音楽をやってもいいと思う。だから、僕がDJをするときも、テクノだけでなく、もっと幅広い要素を取り入れていきたいと思っているよ ( i LOUD 11/2/23 - Agoria『Impermanence』インタビュー ) 」 。

Influenced by Jazz and Detroit Techno, Sébastien Devaud, aka Agoria, is one in a long line of talented artists to emerge from the ever fertile French electronic scene.
Starting off his career with a hectic DJing schedule playing at many international clubs alongside renowned artists such as Jeff Mills, DJ Hell, Kevin Saunderson, Carl Cox, Colin Dale, Joey Beltram, Ritchie Hawtin and Christian Vogel to name but a few, Agoria has become an important figure of the European techno scene, developing a unique groove and approach to the dancefloor.
With an opera singer parent, Agoria had been in a musical environment all his life when, in 1997, he fervently began to produce his own material. His fresh sound attracted a number of French independent labels such as UMF, Tekmics, Zebra 3 and A-Traction whilst being play-listed by the finest International DJs (Laurent Garnier, Dave Clarke, Sven Vath, Luke Slater and DJ Hell are among his supporters).
In 2000, he was the first DJ to be taken on by the prestigious FAIR, a French support fund for new acts, signing his first publishing contract with Peer Music the same year.

カタルシス " a 【哲･美】 想像的経験 ( 特に悲劇を見ること ) による感情の浄化、b 【精神分析】 患者に自分の苦悩を語らせ、その原因になった抑圧感情を取り除かせようとする精神療法。2 【医】 (下剤による)便通。ギリシャ語｢浄化｣の意 " というのは、80年代中期までのロックの時代が終焉する頃の大きなテーマだった。ダコタスイートの最新作 " The North Green Down " は、Chris Hoosonの義理の妹ハンナの死に根ざしているもので、2009年8月、ノースグリーンとして知られているイギリスの海辺にあるサフォークを彼女と訪れた最後の思い出に触発されたもの。全編を通して壊れやすい記憶と痛みを伴う感情がエレクトロニクス、ピアノ、ギター、チェロのサウンドによって呼び起こされている。例えばいまボクがもし大切なひとを失ったとしたら、こうした痛みと悲しさの感情のなかで涙を流せるだろうかと思うと、きっと否だろう。愛のモーメントや過去の思い出、そうしたものから生まれる無力感や絶望は時にはひとを打ち砕く。ボクの感情の襞はすっかり乾ききってしまったようだ。パッシンスルーし、ただ通過する人生の物語か・・。避けられない、免れがたい、不可避の、そうした悲しみと折り合いをつけるためのカタルシスか・・・。キミはいまもこうしたサッドソングばかり聴いて泣いているのだろうか・・・。あるひとは " 震災後にみんなが生きていくために必要だったもの、それは水、食事、電気やガス、住まいでした。そして、生きる勇気を与えたものは唄でした " とTwitterしてるけれど、嘘付け! と思わずにいられない。他人の痛みなど分かち合えるわけがない。もうそんな安っぽいヒューマニズムなど通じる時代じゃないんだ。できることと言えばソっとしてあげることと、次は自分に降り掛かるであろう災いに対して覚悟を決めることだけだ。今回の災害は神戸淡路大地震とはわけが違うのだから。酷い話だが、想像的経験 ( 特に悲劇を見ること ) による感情の浄化がカタルシスだ、との定義から言えば、救われたのは被害に会わなかった我々のほうではないのか。
ダコタ・スイートはグループのフロントマンであるsinger/guitaristのクリス・フーソン ( Chris Hooson ) とproducerリチャードフォームビー ( Richard Formby ) を中心としたグループ。他のメンバーはベースギターとペダルスティールのデビッド・バクストン ( David Buxton ) 、ドラムスのジョン・シェパード ( John Sheppard ) 、ピアノのピーター・ハスラム ( Peter Haslam ) とコリン・ダンクリー ( Colin Dunkley ) 。彼らの初期のアルバムは聴いていないが、言ってみればモノクロームのジャケット／アートで統一されたロックの文脈を押さえた室内楽とも言えるだろう。この " The North Green Down " はイタリア人アーティストEmanuele Erranteとのコラボレーション作で、Chris Hoosonがピアノとギターで、Emanuele Erranteが電子音、アメリカン・チェリストのDavid Darlingなどがそれぞれ参加して制作されている。バンド名はクリスの好きなジョン・レノンの住まいから採ったという。

ピーター・ブロデリックは初期、UKのバーミンガムにあるTypeレーベルから " Retreat / Release ( 2007 ) " 、 " Home ( 2008 ) " 、" Float ( 2008 ) " 、 " 4 Track Songs ( 2009 ) " の4枚の作品を発表しているが、ミュージシャンJohn TwellsとグラフィックデザイナーStefan Lewandowskiの設立したTypeも、エレクトロニカ、IDM、スローモーション・テクノ、ミニマル・ミュージックなどの実験的な電子音楽をリリースをしていて要チェックのレーベル ( いずれ紹介します) 。Peter BroderickとRutger Zuydervelt ( Machinefabriek ) とのコラボレーション作であるこの作品は、ピアノやストリングスによって構築されたものを、サウンド・トリートメントされた美しいサウンドスケープが描かれている。
