レッド・クレイオラやメイヨ・トンプソンと言っても、いまや恐らく誰も知らないのだろうね。70年代の終わりにロンドンでエッセンシャル・ロジック ( ローラ・ロジック )と彼に会いインタヴューしたが、フランク・ザッパと同じようにレッド・クレイオラの音楽はロックというなら避けて通れない重要な音楽だった。その彼がサイドAをプロデュースしたもので、このキャブスのプロデュースからペル・ユビュにも繋がるラフトレードを核にした80年代オルタナのキーパーソンでもあった。

ノイズをバックグラウンドに持つ実験音楽、ネイティヴ・トライブ ( プリミティヴズム / 原始主義 ) 、ダンスグルーヴがキャバレー・ヴォルテールの音楽を占領していた主な3つのコンセプトだった。おそらくキャヴスとしては、この " 2Ⅹ4 " が頂点だったように思う。Chris Watsonの脱けたこの作品以後からよりエレクトロニック・ボディ、ダンス・ミュージックとしての強度を増した展開を繰り広げ、アサンブラージュ、コラージュ、フォトモンタージュの音響系ともいえるロックの文脈から遠のき初期の彼らのファン離れが始まったのだろう。
